NEXT LEVEL:
Intermediate
(formerly CORE Training)

WHO IS IT FOR?

We meet many actors who don’t need a beginning class and possess some technique but could benefit from an intermediate class to bring them up to speed to succeed in our advanced classes. This class is focused on strengthening individual weak points and providing a greater understanding of professional expectations on stage and on set.

Because the work is prescriptive, class size is limited to 10 actors to ensure maximum personal attention.

WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?

The studio was founded for trained actors, which is why, until now, the studio has not offered classes that address core technique. However, many actors with obvious talent and experience, who have not yet developed a defined way of working, often apply to the studio. The actors we have met in this category have so inspired us that we were motivated to create this new opportunity.

WHO WILL BE TEACHING?

Our faculty possesses a collective knowledge and expertise that enables them to achieve rare quality and results.

Intermediate classes are not delegated to novice teachers.

Some of the same teachers who teach the advanced and master classes will teach the Intermediate classes, including the Head of the Studio, Scott Freeman.

WHAT WILL BE TAUGHT?

Scott Freeman’s Ten Points, which are derived from fundamental Stanislavskian principles, provide the basic foundation for the Next Level. Each unit of study is dedicated to one of the points. While every actor must be a thinking artist, the emphasis is on making theory active. Therefore, basic concepts such as objective, obstacle, action, etc. will be taught so the actor understands them not just intellectually but more importantly, viscerally.

The class will consist of a series of exercises, leading to scene work, where all of the lessons will be applied.

THE GOAL

Next Level’s goal is to give actors ownership of a describable, reliable personal technique that will serve and sustain them for a long career.

HOW DO I APPLY?

Acceptance is by interview and audition only.

A maximum of 10 actors will be selected for each class. As we are investing in actors’ careers, a strong peer level is paramount. To inquire and/or apply, please contact us.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

Once an actor has completed the Next Level Intermediate class, they will be eligible to enroll in our advanced on-going Scene Study and On-Camera classes and Workshops.
